Athlete Code of Conduct
Our athletics club is built on respect, encouragement, teamwork and having fun. As an athlete, you play an important part in creating a safe, positive and enjoyable environment for everyone.
Be Prepared

Arrive 10 minutes before training and be ready to participate.

Bring a full water bottle to every training session and competition.

Bring a hat and sunscreen when required.

Wear appropriate athletic clothing and footwear.

Bring any equipment your coach has asked you to bring.
Be Responsible

Take responsibility for your own preparation, equipment and belongings.

Listen to your coach and follow instructions, particularly when they relate to safety.

Tell your coach if you are injured, unwell, or need help.

Stay with your group unless your coach gives you permission to leave.

Help look after the equipment and facilities we use.

Leave the training area clean and tidy.
Be Supportive

Come with a positive attitude and be ready to learn.

Give your best effort and challenge yourself.

Encourage your teammates and celebrate their effort and improvement.

Include others and treat everyone fairly.

Remember that everyone develops and improves at their own pace.

Have fun and enjoy being part of the club.
Show Respect

Treat coaches, volunteers, officials, teammates and other athletes with courtesy and respect.

Listen when coaches or officials are speaking.

Use positive and appropriate language.

Show good sportsmanship, whether you win or lose.

Respect other athletes' space, equipment and abilities.

Respect the facilities and places where we train and compete.
Help Keep Our Club Safe

Follow club rules and safety instructions.

Use athletics equipment properly and only when instructed.

Never deliberately put yourself or another person at risk.

Tell a coach if you see something that is unsafe or if someone needs help.

Help create a club where everyone feels safe, welcome and included.
Continued Unacceptable Behaviour

If you do not follow this Code of Conduct, your coach will speak with you and give you the opportunity to make better choices.

If unacceptable or unsafe behaviour continues, or is serious, the matter will be managed in accordance with the club's Behaviour Management and Safeguarding Policy, with your parents or caregivers involved where appropriate.

The club reserves the right, where necessary, to stand down an athlete from the athletics programme or stand them down from the competitive programme and place them in the social programme where ongoing behaviour significantly impacts the safety, wellbeing or enjoyment of other athletes. Any such decision will be discussed with the athlete and their parent or caregiver
